Trip Information
Day 1: MUSCAT
Arrival in Muscat, after completing customs formalities and collecting your luggage, meeting with our assistant and transfer to your Hotel. Breakfast. Meeting with the guide at approximately 9.00 am and visit to the Great Mosque of Muscat, one of the symbolic monuments of the city, refined and elegant. Visit the Muttrah souq with the myriad of colours, spices, essences, fabrics, incense, myrrh and local craft objects. Free lunch. Visit to the Bait Al Zubair Museum, which allows you to understand the customs, habits and traditions of Oman. Photo stop at the Alam Palace (Sultan’s Palace), arrival at the old port where the Jalali and Mirani Forts dating back to the 16th century is located, a legacy of the “Portuguese” era, photo stop. I’m going back to the hotel. Free dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: MUSCAT / BARKA FISH MARKE / WAKAN VILLAGE / SOHAR
Breakfast, departure by off-road vehicle and visit the fish market in Barka. Continue to Wadi Mistal in the heart of the Batinah region until reaching the foothills of the Western Hajar range. The itinerary climbs along a scenic road until reaching the mountain village of Wakan located at 2000 m. altitude, leave the off-road vehicles and continue on foot through the village and up a stepped path. You will be able to admire a spectacular panorama of the surrounding mountain ranges as well as observe crops and fruit trees. Free lunch. We then arrive in Sohar, accommodation at the Hotel Crowne Plaza, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: SOHAR / BAT / WADI Al AYN / SINT / JABEL SHAMS
Breakfast, visit the new and splendid Sultan Qaboos Mosque of Sohar, the 32nd Mosque dedicated to Sultan Qaboos. It is surrounded by magnificent gardens and 4,600 faithfuls can pray there. This Mosque has a very refined architecture in combined Persian style typical of Central Asia with the blue dome surrounded by 4 minarets. Departure for the interior towards Ibri until reaching Bat and Al Ayn to visit the funerary complex of tombs dating back to 3000 BC. The complex is one of the 4 sites in Oman registered in the UNESCO list as a World Heritage Site. Free lunch. Continue to Wadi Al Ayn along a fascinating mountain itinerary passing through Sint until reaching Jabal Shams where the Grand Canyon of Oman is located. Jamal Shams, the “Mountain of the Sun” is the highest peak in Oman at 3009 metres. You can admire the sunset. Dinner and overnight stay at Sama Height Resort in a mountain view room.
Day 4: JABEL SHAMS / Al HAMRA / BAHLA / JABRIN / NIZWA
Breakfast, departure for Al Hamra where we will visit the immense oasis with the old mud houses. Arrival in Bahla for a panoramic visit of the ancient fortified city, the first Omani site registered in the UNESCO list. The city was surrounded by 12.5 km of walls inside which there were 18 mud villages and the imposing Fort dating back to the 12th century. Free lunch. Continue to Jabrin and visit the fortified castle considered the most refined in Oman, built by the Imam Bil Arab bin Sultan al Ya’aruba in the 17th century. Arrival in Nizwa, visit the castle fort and the colorful souq, accommodation at Intercity Hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: NIZWA / WADI BANI KHALID / SHARQIYA SANDS
Breakfast. Departure for Wadi Bani Khalid, one of the most photographed oases in Oman, crossed by a perennial watercourse that forms waterfalls and lakes bordered by palm trees. Free lunch. Departure for the Wahiba desert and accommodation in a DlX villa room at Desert Night Camp 05*. In the afternoon, excursion among the dunes to enjoy the magical atmosphere of the desert. The excursion will end on the top of a dune where you will wait for the sunset with its spectacular colors. Return to camp, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: SHARQIYA SANDS / WOODLAND / COAST ROAD / RAS Al JINZ
Breakfast and departure for Jalan Bani Bu Ali until reaching “Woodland” a desert of extraordinary beauty characterized by very light, almost white sands where inside there is a true “forest” with intense green hues to create a contrast of colors. Numerous photographic stops to capture this unique and extraordinary landscape. Free lunch. Continue along the coastal road to Ras Al Jinz, where the protected nature reserve is located where turtles come to lay their eggs at night. Accommodation in the Turtle Ras Al Jinz reserve eco resort located within the reserve, carapace room. Dinner and overnight stay. Visit to the turtle beach with the park guides. Possibility of a second visit at dawn. Entrance to the beach included.
Day 7: RASAL JINZ/ SUR / TIWI / BIMAN SINKHOLE / WADI ABREEN / MUSCAT
Breakfast and departure for Sur, visit to this charming seaside town, once a flourishing commercial hub towards Africa and India where there are shipyards that build “dhows”, the typical Omani boats entirely made of wood and built by hand. Then visit the Ayjah area, an ancient settlement of the city where the lighthouse is located and you will be able to admire a splendid panorama of Sur and its natural lagoon. Arrival in Tiwi to visit the splendid wadi with natural lakes. Continue to Biman Sinkhole, where we will visit this unique geological formation consisting of a deep natural crater created by sinking and at the bottom of which there is a small lake of emerald water. Free lunch. We will cross Wadi Arbeen, one of the most spectacular wadis in Oman, nestled between rocky walls and various waterways, drawing landscapes of incredible beauty. Arrival in Muscat, hotel accommodation, free dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: MUSCAT
Breakfast, transfer to the airport and end of our services. NB: Possibility of extending the trip with a beach holiday in Oman.
