Trip Information

Day 1: Muscat

Arrival in Muscat, after completing customs formalities and collecting your luggage, meeting with our English-speaking assistant and transfer to hotel. Accommodation in reserved rooms. Overnight stay.

Day 2: Muscat City Tour

Breakfast, meeting with the Italian speaking guide and departure to visit the city: The Great Mosque dedicated to Sultan Qaboos, modern and elegant which has become one of the symbols of the city, built from 1995 to 2001, famous for the beautiful Persian carpet and the incredible chandelier. Continue to Shatti al Qurum, the beautiful seafront of Muscat with the mangrove reserve, until reaching the Opera House. Photo stop and visit to the Opera Galleria with its elegant shops. In the early afternoon, visit the Bait al Zubair Museum which will allow you to understand the history, habits and customs of Oman; photo stop at the Alam Palace, the sultan’s representative residence. Photo stop at the two Portuguese-era forts Jalali and Mirani. Finally, we will reach Muttrah where the largest souq in Oman is located, with the myriad of spices and colored fabrics, incense and silver jewelers. Return to the hotel, free dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Muscat / Jabal Akdar / Birkat Al Mouz / Jabreen / Nizwa

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by off-road vehicle for Jabal Akhdar known as the GREEN MOUNTAIN for the terraced cultivations and deep canyons that characterize it. Photo stops. We descend from the Jabal Akhdar mountain and stop at Birkat al Mouz where the Falaj is located, under the protection of UNESCO. Lunch and continue to Jabreen and visit the Castle dating back to the 17th century and one of the best preserved in Oman. Arrival in Nizwa, the ancient capital of the Imamate of Oman in the 9th century, known as the “Pearl of Islam”. Optional visit to the castle and fort with the imposing circular tower. Visit to the souk where it will be possible to purchase terracotta and silver objects, spices and essences including the famous rose water. Dinner and overnight at the Intercity Hotel or others as you want.

Day 4: Nizwa / Wadi Bani Khalid / Wahiba Sands

Breakfast and departure for Wadi Bani Khalid. Arrival and visit to this splendid mountain oasis-wadi crossed by a perennial watercourse. Lunch. Arrival in the desert and accommodation at the Desert Night camp in DLX VILLA or safari camp. Before sunset we will take an exciting excursion into the Wahiba desert, to admire the large spaces, the curious and sometimes bizarre shapes of the dunes shaped by the wind, which in this desert can reach heights of 100 meters. in height. After various photo stops you will reach the top of a dune to wait for the sunset. Return to camp, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Wahiba Sands Crossing / Jalan Bani Bu Ali / Woodland Desert / SUR

Breakfast and off-road departure for the Wahiba Sands desert crossing with various photo stops along the way. We will arrive at Jalan Bani Bu Ali and have lunch. We will make a photo stop at the Al hamoda Mosque with its 52 domes and the ancient castle. Continuing the off-road route, you enter the “Woodland” desert characterized by soft white sands with a real forest of Prosopis Cineraria inside, a tree typical of desert areas with roots that reach great depths to find water. We will visit this desert with various photo stops and continue north to Sur. Accommodation at SUR PLAZA OR SUR GRAND.

Day 6: SUR / TIWI / Wadi Arbeen /SINKHOLE/ MUSCAT

Breakfast and visit to Sur, once a thriving commercial port for trade with India and particularly Africa. Visit to Ajyah, an ancient settlement of the city and the shipyards where the “dhows”, typical Arab boats, are built, still by hand using traditional methods. Departure along the coast of the Gulf of Oman, with beautiful sea and mountain landscapes. Arrival at the so-called Biman Sinkhole, a geological formation consisting of a crater in the ground with emerald waters at the bottom. Free lunch. Departure for Muscat, deviating inland along the beautiful Wadi Arbeen, a wadi that winds between rocky walls and is crossed by perennial water forming lakes and waterfalls. Arrival in Muscat, hotel accommodation, free dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Muscat

Breakfast. At 09.15 am transfer by minibus from your hotel to the Marina. On board a fast boat you will go down the coast from Muscat to Bandar Al Khayran with enchanting scenery: natural arches, rock formations eroded by wind and water, coves and desert beaches, crystal clear seabed, the cruise lasts 6 hours and is Picnic lunch and relaxation on the beach are also included. Beach towels will be provided. Time available for swimming and snorkeling. Return to the hotel from the Marina. Transfer to the airport and return flight or departure to the next destination. NB: The cruise to Bandar Al Kayran departs for a minimum of 4 participants. If 4 participants are not reached, the Dolphin Watch will be carried out and lunch will be held in the hotel. If no cruise can depart due to bad weather, the cost of the cruise will be refunded.
