Trip Information
Day 1: MUSCAT
Arrival in Muscat, after completing customs formalities and collecting your luggage, meeting with our English-speaking assistant and transfer to City Season hotel 04*. Accommodation in the reserved room. Overnight stay.
Day 2: MUSCAT / WAKAN VILLAGE
Breakfast at the hotel. Meeting with the English-speaking guide and visit to the Great Mosque of Muscat, which has become one of the symbolic monuments of the city, for its refined and elegant style, visit to the Bait Al Zubair Museum, photo stops at the Al Alam Palace and the Portuguese Forts Jalali and Mirani. Arrival at the Mutrah Souq and time available for visiting and shopping. Free lunch. Departure for Wadi MIstal and we will go up to Wakan Village to spend a night in this particular location overlooking the valley below. Dinner and overnight at Sama Wakan Heritage Home, ancient traditional houses in Wakan village in Oman that have been restored and equipped with private bathrooms. Sama Heritage Homes-Wakan is the first and only hotel in Wakan, one of Oman’s hidden treasures.
Day 3: WAKAN VILLAGE / CROSS MOUNTAIN / Al HAMRA / JABAL SHAMS
Breakfast, we will cross the Hajar mountain range, an off road but very suggestive route due to the imposing mountains, the deep canyons and the suggestive gorges. Stop at Snake Gorge, the famous snake gorge. We then descend towards Al Hamra, a traditional village with mud houses immersed in a lush palm grove. Free lunch. We then climb to Jabal Shams called the mountain of the sun. Accommodation at the Sama Height resort, the only real ecolodge in Jabal Shams in Oman. Overlooking the raw and natural beauty of Jebel Misht, Wadi Ghul and the famous Wadi Nakhr, also known as the Grand Canyon of Arabia. Sama Heights Resort & Spa in Jabal Shams Oman is located at an altitude of 2100 m, which means that there are cool temperatures all year round, in summer it is one of the sites where it is pleasant to spend your stay. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: JABAL SHAMS / JABREEN / BAHLA / NIZWA
Breakfast at the resort. You descend from Jabal Shams and reach Jabreen where there is the most beautiful and best-preserved fortified castle in Oman, built in the 16th century by Iman Bilarab bin Sultan al Ya’aruba, a man of great culture who brought the capital of the Sultanate here and which became the cultural center of the time. Photo stop in Bahla, the fortified city once surrounded by 12 km of walls. Free lunch. Afternoon visit to Nizwa, the ancient capital of the sultanate with the characteristic fort with circular tower and castle. Then visit the souq where you can buy dates, spices and handicrafts. Accommodation at the Bustan Inn an ecolodge created from typical Omani houses. Free dinner to experience the local restaurants of Nizwa. Overnight stay.
Day 5: NIZWA / WADI BANI KHALID / DESERT
Breakfast, departure for Wadi Bani Khalid, the oasis located in a gorge between the mountains, where there are lakes fringed with palm trees. Time available. Free lunch. Afternoon departure for the Wahiba desert and accommodation at Sama at Wasil Desert Camp, an ecolodge located in the heart of Wahiba Sands, one of the deserts of Oman, the camp is surrounded by sand dunes and guests can enjoy the feeling of escaping from the world external. Afternoon excursion among the dunes in the desert, return after sunset. dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: DESERT / CROSS DESERT / JALAN BANI BU ALI / Al KHABA / RAS Al JINZ
Breakfast at the hotel. departure for the crossing of the Wahiba desert to Jalan Bani Bu Ali, a route of exciting beauty, a landscape crossing the desert that changes and fascinates dune after dune. Free lunch. Visit to the 52 Domes Mosque and photo stop at the castle. Driving along the coastal road you arrive at Ras Al Jinz and accommodation at the Sama Ras Al Jinz Ecolodge, a lovely eco-resort with only 20 rooms, 10 standard and 10 de Luxe. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: RAS Al JINZ / SUR / WADI TIWI / BIMAN SINKHOLE / WADI ARBEEN / MUSCAT
Breakfast, return to Muscat making visits along the way. Arrival in Sur, an ancient point of exchange with Africa and India. Visit to the dhow shipyard, the typical hand-made wooden boats, and to the Ayjah area with a splendid view of the natural lagoon. Continue along the coast of the Gulf of Oman until reaching Biman Sinkhole, a particular geological formation created by the sinking of the ground. Free lunch. We will cross the spectacular Wadi Arbeen, a wadi set between rocky walls and partly crossed by a perennial watercourse. Arrival in Muscat and end of the tour at the airport or hotel as request.
